| Introducing the Next Generation of Broadcast |
The future of broadcast is here: the new Dolby® Pulse technology delivers high-quality multichannel content to TVs, computers, mobile phones, and more. Dolby Pulse is the ideal HE AAC solution for bandwidth-critical services like next-generation HDTV, IPTV, cable, and satellite services. It provides broadcasters with the capability to broadcast stereo and 5.1-channel audio, occupying the lowest bandwidth while maintaining high audio quality. And because it includes Dolby metadata, Dolby Pulse is the one HE AAC solution that eliminates the need for a stereo simulcast with a 5.1 broadcast, further reducing bandwidth. Dolby Pulse coding can be used throughout the broadcast chain, from content creation all the way to the home. When every bit counts, Dolby Pulse delivers.
At the 2009 NAB Show, April 20–23, Dolby staff will be demonstrating new products and solutions with Dolby Pulse capability. |

| Skywalker Sound Finds Creative Uses for the Dolby DP600 |
As the Dolby® DP600 Program Optimizer approaches its second year on the market, it continues to develop a widening base of users. Several users are finding unique ways to apply the powerful audio processing capabilities of the DP600 for their particular needs. While the unit's automated file-based loudness analysis and correction makes it an ideal component in the preparation of broadcast content, it is beginning to be used for content creation, as well. We spoke with Doug Ford, Engineering Supervisor at the legendary Skywalker Sound facility in Northern California, to get a better idea how this is happening in real-world productions. He provided valuable insight into the company's initial decision to use the DP600, and how the studio has expanded its use in productions since the acquisition. |

| Dolby E Professional Licensed File-Based Encoding Partners |
Several Dolby® E professional software encoders are being developed this year for release by licensed Dolby partner companies. Dolby E professional encoders for file-based applications are already available, and Minnetonka Audio Software and Neyrinck are the first companies to release software products that contain these implementations.

| Dolby MS10 Multistream Decoder Kits Now Available |
The Dolby® MS10 Multistream Decoder is the ideal solution for decoding all premium broadcast audio formats for TVs and set-top boxes. These consumer devices are rapidly evolving to become multipurpose digital media platforms for the home to receive traditional broadcast services and digital content from the Internet, game consoles, and PCs.
The Dolby MS10 Multistream Decoder implementation kits for IC companies and the system kits for broadcast consumer device manufacturers are now available to port this new decoder to broadcast products in development. The implementation kit for IC companies incorporates Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Pulse, HE AAC, and AAC decoding technologies into a single licensing package, and was made available in February. The system kit for broadcast consumer device manufacturers was released in March.
