Megaplex Theatres celebrated the grand opening of its new multiplex in South Jordan, Utah, on May 19. Ten of the centers 20 screens are equipped with Dolby® Digital Cinema systems, and seven of these screens are digital-only. As the newest member of the Megaplex family, the Megaplex 20 is leading the industry in the move to digital cinema, and the seven digital-only screens make it one of the first multiple-screen installations of digital-cinema-only theatres in the country. In addition to the new multiplex, Megaplex will equip another ten screens throughout the chain with Dolby Digital Cinema systems, giving them 20 total. Megaplex Theatres worked with Dolby for the installation of the theatre chains first digital cinema system in its Jordan Commons multiplex, as part of Dolbys collaboration in the presentation of Chicken Little in digital 3-D in the fall of 2005. That screen was one of the highest-grossing during the movies run. Due in part to the large success of this first digital cinema experience, Megaplex selected Dolby for its plans to further integrate digital cinema throughout its chain.
