Games Using Dolby Technology

Imagine the picture without the sound. Just like with movies, sound brings the entertainment experience in games to life.

Dolby® technologies have revolutionized cinema sound and home theater. These same groundbreaking technologies bring cinema-quality sound to games. So you feel like you’re right there—experiencing the game from the inside.

First, check the package for a Dolby logo. This logo will ensure that the game is presented in surround sound.

Games with Dolby Digital technology offer the fullest surround sound experience. Each of the six channels (Left/Right/Center/Left Surround/Right Surround/Low-Frequency Effects) transmits its own clear, discrete signal, so, for example, you can hear that enemy sneaking up from behind and feel that explosion under your feet.

Games with Dolby Pro Logic II technology transmit surround sound as stereo digital or analog sound. This stereo sound can be understood by an A/V receiver with Dolby Pro Logic II as five-channel surround (Left/Right/Center/Left Surround/Right Surround).

So whether your game supports Dolby Digital or Dolby Pro Logic® II, you can enjoy playing your game with a surround sound experience. Xbox 360™ and Xbox® titles all support Dolby Digital, along with most PLAYSTATION®3 titles. Dolby Pro Logic II is used with the majority of Wii™, GameCube™, and PlayStation 2 titles. PCs equipped with Dolby Digital Live technology can take any PC game and encode it into Dolby Digital in real time.

To find out if your game supports Dolby technology, simply flip the game box over and look for the Dolby Digital or Dolby Pro Logic II logo on the back.
