Digital cable

Your digital set-top box features Dolby® Digital sound technology. Make sure your cable company provides a box with digital audio outputs (sometimes labeled AC-3 or S/PDIF), so you can experience Dolby Digital surround sound by connecting your cable service to your home theater system.

Satellite

The two direct broadcast satellite (DBS) systems (DirecTV® and Dish Network™) provide programming in Dolby Digital audio. Each DBS system uses the Dolby double-D logo to indicate a Dolby Digital program. To experience the full Dolby Digital experience, your set-top box should have the Dolby Digital logo and/or digital audio or optical output.
