Dolby Filter Controller Front Panel

The front panel contains Enable and Disable buttons that move the filter into the projector light path or remove it from the light path. It also contains three LEDs labeled filter inserted, filter spinning, and servo locked. The front‐panel USB connector is used to set software parameters and for software upgrades.

The rear panel features the following:

37-pin male D‐connector GPI/O port

RJ45 Ethernet port

25-pin female D‐connector automation port

25-pin male D‐connector motor control port

9-pin female D‐connector RS‐232/ASCII control port

The Motor and Filter Wheel Assembly

The motor assembly functions identically in all supported projectors.

The motor assembly operates in three modes:

4:2 mode (48 rps, double‐flash)

5:2 mode (60 rps)

6:2 mode (72 rps, triple‐flash)

The motor assembly automatically determines the proper operating mode.

The motor assembly includes the following main components:

A filter wheel that separates the left‐ and right‐eye images: The filter wheel is 96 or 125 mm in diameter, depending on projector kit model

A DC motor that spins the filter wheel

A solenoid that inserts the filter wheel into the light path and removes it

A printed circuit board that receives and interprets the signals from the DFC100 and drives the motor and solenoid

A positional sensor that generates the feedback signal needed for projector synchronization

The motor assembly contains no user‐serviceable components and does not require direct user intervention once properly installed.
