Playstation 2
Ready to game in surround sound? Follow the step-by-step instructions below and you'll be up and playing in no time.
Most PlayStation 2 games use Dolby® Pro Logic II exclusively because the PlayStation 2 cannot process interactive Dolby Digital during game play. Some games, however, may feature select cinematics in Dolby Digital. Since all home theater receivers with Dolby Pro Logic II are also equipped with Dolby Digital, you'll hear 5.1-channel surround sound no matter what Dolby technologies are supported. See the diagram to see how to connect your console to a home theater receiver.
- Connect the digital audio output of the PlayStation 2 to the optical digital audio input of your A/V receiver with an optical digital audio cable. You do not need to connect the two-channel analog outputs from the PlayStation 2.
- Nearly every receiver has an auto-detect mode that switches it automatically between Dolby Digital and stereo. Set your receiver to activate Dolby Pro Logic II when it detects stereo, and you'll always get 5.1-channel output.
- Make sure your receiver is set to Dolby Pro Logic II Movie or Game mode, and you're ready to go.
