7.1 surround delivers a cinematic experience through seven speakers and a subwoofer.
To create an optimal sound system, familiarize yourself with the role and position of each speaker. Choose a central seating point and angle your speakers at it, keeping them at your ear height when you are seated, unless noted otherwise.
7.1 Speaker Setup Guide
No two rooms are alike. To experience your system at its best, you might need to fine-tune your setup after some initial listening. Here are a few tips.
Create a clear path between you and your speakers. If you can't see the speaker, sound is being blocked.
Don't be afraid to experiment with small adjustments and repositioning to boost sound quality.
You can achieve a more balanced sound by minimizing bare walls and floors.
The configurations noted in this guide are illustrative. Dolby recommends that any overhead speaker installation be performed by professional installers with experience in installing overhead speakers.
Left, center, and right speakers help sound follow action across the TV screen, especially with music, dialogue, and special effects. Left and right speakers should be equidistant from both the screen and you.
The subwoofer delivers bass, giving weight to movies—especially action films. Bass moves in all directions, so the angle and location of the subwoofer are flexible. Just avoid placing it in a corner, which leads to muddy sound.
Surround speakers create a lifelike sense of spaciousness, providing ambient sound within movies. Place the speakers to the sides of the seating area, ideally just above ear height.
These rear speakers add intensity to the audio experience by further localizing sound effects. Place them behind the seating area at an angle of 135° to 150° from the center.
