Star Trek Beyond in Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision

  • Cast and crew members of Star Trek Beyond talk about how Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision help convey the power of the latest Star Trek movie.

  • Director Justin Lin and cast members discuss the making of Star Trek Beyond.

    • Midway through its five-year mission, the starship Enterprise is attacked and crash-lands on a remote planet, stranding Captain Kirk and his crew in the wilderness.

"The Enterprise is more than just a ship," says Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin. "It's a vessel that basically has bonded all of us and these characters for 50 years."

Writer and actor Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty, says: "Star Trek has always been about the characters, the people at the heart of these extraordinary situations. It's exciting, and it's thrilling—but it's also very heartfelt."

To deepen viewers' connection to the latest Star Trek adventure, the filmmakers used Dolby Atmos® technology for moving audio and Dolby Vision™ for dramatic imaging.

"With Dolby, we have more tools available to us than ever," says the director, "because as a filmmaker, the aesthetic has evolved to be able to build these moments."

Whether the moment is a fast-action space chase or the flash of an explosion, a tender moment between lovers or a game of wits between crewmates, you can see and hear Star Trek Beyond in Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.

Dolby Vision is available only at Dolby Cinema™ locations. Click here to learn more.
