In 1940, Hitler's forces had gathered across the English Channel, poised to invade. UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill also had to contend with enemies at home — a cabal of political rivals scheming to topple him from Parliament while pressuring him into brokering a peace treaty with the Nazis.

Things could have turned out much differently for Western Europe and the free world without the power and conviction of Churchill's leadership, portrayed in Darkest Hour by Academy Award® nominee Gary Oldman in what many are already calling the most electrifying performance of his long and illustrious career.

Director Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice) says, "Dolby Vision gives me a lot of hope and enthusiasm for the cinematic experience. It combines the kind of depth and beauty of a projected film image with the detail and the clarity of a digital image. And so suddenly it's, I believe, better than both."

About working with the powerful, moving audio of Dolby Atmos®, he says, "Dolby Atmos affords a totally immersive experience for an audience. ... I'm in there. I'm surrounded by it. ... You're kind of engulfed by it, and you can really escape for those two hours into a different reality."

"We've tried to capture this iconic moment in history with the utmost realism, and certainly, in my opinion, the best way to see this movie is in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos."

Immerse yourself in this extraordinary recreation of 1940s London and World War II — and this inspiring story of Churchill's unwavering courage to lead — in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
