      • Same Superior Experience—Now More Affordable

Whether you’re ready to equip your cinema for an immersive Dolby Atmos® audio experience now or prefer a flexible processor that you can upgrade in the future to deliver a full Dolby Atmos experience, we have a CP850 processor that’s ideal for your needs.

Dolby Atmos provides a unique approach to cinema audio, giving filmmakers unprecedented power and freedom to realize their creative visions. In your cinema, Dolby Atmos gives audiences moving audio that flows all around them, a natural and enveloping sound experience that fully reflects the original artistic concept.

        Benefits include:

        • Rendering up to 64 speaker feeds provides an unmatched audience experience.
        • The latest Dolby® Lake EQ and 1/12th octave EQ resolution optimizes playback for all content types, even in acoustically challenged environments.
        • Flexible configurations provide all the common I/O interfaces for the modern digital cinema.
        • Automated calibration ensures consistent, high-quality playback for each movie.

Dolby Atmos represents the future of cinema audio, but we recognize that equipping a cinema for a fully immersive Dolby Atmos experience may not be practical for every situation today. For that reason, we now offer the Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850 Base as well as the Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850.

The Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850 Base will play back traditional Dolby Surround 7.1 and 5.1 formats as well as render select Dolby Atmos titles to a Dolby Surround 7.1 configuration. It includes the same advanced equalization and other audio features as the Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850, so you can ensure that your cinema is ready for the future while adding a number of sound improvements now. Dolby Atmos marketing support is exclusive to theatres with the full Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850.

As with the full Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850, the CP850 Base includes:

        • Individual amplification and equalization of the surround speakers
        • Support for bass management of the subwoofers
        • Internal crossovers to reduce installation cost

Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850 Line

The Dolby Atmos Connect Interface DAC3202 allows you to use legacy amplifiers in Dolby Atmos installations. The Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850 employs an audio-over-Ethernet protocol to send a digital audio stream to Dolby Atmos Connect Interfaces. A Dolby Atmos Connect Interface converts the digital audio to analog audio for connection to amplifiers. Each Dolby Atmos Connect Interface offers 32 analog outputs.

A Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850 together with a single Dolby Atmos Connect Interface can support up to 48 speaker feeds. Installations with more than 48 speaker feeds will need two Dolby Atmos Connect Interfaces.

          • Dolby Cinema Audio Mobile Application

The Dolby Cinema Audio application gives Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850 owners the ability to remotely monitor and control important cinema processor functionality from the convenience of a mobile device. Cinema operators can switch audio macros, change the fader level, mute the cinema processor, and view playback information such as signal strength or bitstream status. Multiple CP850 units can be added to the app's list of configured devices, providing cinema operators with a quick and easy method of connecting to their desired device at any given time.

            Frequently Asked Questions

Does Dolby Cinema Audio work with rendering and mastering units, CP750, and so on?

The Dolby Cinema Audio mobile application currently only supports Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850 devices with software version or later.

            Is the app free?

Yes. Download Dolby Cinema Audio from the Apple® App Store℠ and from Google Play.

What Apple mobile devices are supported?

The app is supported on mobile devices running iOS 8.0 or later. The app is designed for the iPhone® (5 or later) and iPod® touch (5th generation), but it is also supported on iPad®.

What Android mobile devices are supported?

The app is supported on mobile devices running Android™ 4.1 or later. The app is designed for standard-screen phones, but it is also supported on tablets.

Does the app provide any layer of security?

To add a Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850 to the app's list of devices, you must provide the app with the CP850 serial number and IP address or host name. In addition, the app can access only cinema processors on the same network, which means that only mobile users who have access to the cinema's internal network can connect to cinema processors.

Is a wireless network in the cinema needed?

Yes, a wireless network in the cinema must be available to the mobile devices. The cinema processors must also be connected to this same network via Ethernet. Cinema operators can enforce all the usual layers of security (hidden SSIDs, strong passwords, MAC filtering, and so on) because the mobile devices handle all networking; the app will connect to the cinema processors within its available network.

Are critical controls protected from accidental button presses when my mobile device is in my back pocket?

Yes, critical controls such as changing the fader level or muting the cinema processor are either locked (and unlocked by swiping) or placed within a control panel that requires a deliberate press to access.
